    DBI’s new client holds design as its North Star.  They lead with design, move projects forward focused on design and speak the language of design in every aspect of the firm. For this firm design, and the innovation that creates it, is a state of mind. For this firm design has the power to lift, open, and connect people and communities.

    Our client needs an Interior Design Director with a total focus on design. This role will provide design leadership for the entirety of the firm’s interior design efforts. There will not be any business development, project management, or working on construction document. Key to success will be a candidate who brings a bright, exciting eye.

    While this role is located in San Francisco, the ideal candidate will have global knowledge of interior design processes and practices.

    This position requires someone with personal integrity and credibility to gain trust of individuals at all levels within the organization.

     

    Required Experience:

    · Ability to design, ideate and create

    · Have managed a department, successfully delegate, guide and supervise the work of others in a collaborative environment

    · Ability to build trust and long-term relationships with internal and external clients

    · Demonstrated ability to work successfully across a variety of cultures and organization

    · Ability to mentor, coach, empower employees and pass on knowledge to others and support a continuous learning environment

    · Working knowledge of industry related interior design

    · Extensive experience and proven ability in interior design and, graphic design concepts such as, but not limited to:

         o Hand sketch case work

         o Vignette scenes

         o Hand coloring

         o Rendering interior drawings, area take offs and shop drawings

    · Extensive proficiency and understanding of FFE Quantity Matrices

    · The substantial ability and experience to independently design major areas within projects

    · The ability to understand and implement complex concepts, practices, and procedures within the interior design field

    · Polished presentation skills

    · Refined oral and written communication skills and listening skills

    · Customer service orientation and strong organizational skills

     

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    · Bachelors and/or Masters

    · Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture and extensive experience designing and renovating large interior projects

    · Minimum of 15 years interior design experience including extensive portfolio of completed hospitality, resorts and entertainment projects, project management

    · Excellent presentation and graphic communication, and client relationships

    · Registered Interior Design professional preferred.
