DBI has been retained to find our new client in Irvine, CA a Retail Design Principal. This role will be the leader of the firm’s global retail efforts. Working across all offices, and reporting to the CEO, the needed talent must bring strong business acumen, world-class design skills, and a growth mindset.

This role will drive all retail design concepts, manage and mentor junior staff, have operational responsibility for the Retail studio, and become the firm subject matter expert for retail and retail development.

Key functions of the role:

• Leverage an understanding of the retail journey. Must understand architecture, brands, and technology integration to create a cohesive and elevated shopping experience.
• Participating in Client meetings with the Executive Director of Design and gaining first-hand information before commencing design.
• Establish design concepts and assist in technical aspects to ensure design integration and innovation.
• Review and participate in project billings.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of Retail Architecture Design experience
• 4-year Architectural degree and/or combination of required education and experience
• Must have proven knowledge and mastery of the retail design industry.
• Understanding of building codes, including national and state local codes.
• Licensed Architect (Preferred)
