Senior Lab Planner (San Diego, Dallas, Boston, Detroit)
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Programming and planning of multi-functional laboratory facilities.
TYPICAL DUTIES
· Meet with user groups to determine technical requirements of proposed laboratory spaces.
· Prepare written program documents as required for sign-off by user groups and owners.
· Develop alternative design proposals based on user requirements.
· Responsible for coordinating project team members or key areas of project development as assigned to design and document best-of-class laboratory facilities.
· Conduct and document required code research for laboratory portions of projects in coordination with Technical Architecture Leader.
· In conjunction with Project Architect, interface as required with other disciplines or outside consultants.
· Attend project meetings as necessary.
· Document interpretation and submittal reviews during bidding and construction administration as directed by and in conjunction with Project Architect.
· Work with other staff across HED’s national offices to help coordinate efforts towards advancing the world of laboratory facilities.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the Architecture Leader.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field; licensed or license track candidates preferred.
· LEED Green Associate or LEED Accredited Professional preferred.
· Minimum ten years' experience in similar role.
· Familiarity with laboratory equipment and utility requirements.
· Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
· Possess the ability to facilitate small group meetings with lab users.
· Proficiency in MS Office software and Autodesk Revit. Knowledge of other 2D and 3D software a plus.
· Candidate should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible.
· Ability to work well with others under deadline situations.
· Active participation in professional organizations a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Capable of traveling to and from project sites for attending client, project, and construction meetings.
· Ability to access existing and new project sites for observation, investigation, and evaluation purposes.
· Ability to use equipment for communication and documentation purposes.
· Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
