Job Description
The Peer Support Specialist will create, lead and coordinate support groups for individuals with mood disorders and mental health challenges. This requires lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges and a desire to use that experience to help others in their recovery journey.
This position is grant funded and would likely only be for 18 months with an extension to 3 years total.
This position involves considerable networking among community members in Contra Costa County and organizations to bring more individuals, particularly from the BIPOC and LGBTQIA++ communities, into peer support services.
If you are not currently state certified, we will provide the opportunity to obtain Peer Support Specialist Certification in the State of California which would be assisted and trained by DBSA California.
