    Job Title: Flight Test Director

    Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

    This position is for an experienced Flight Test Director role to join a growing aerospace team with L&T Technology Services (LTTS). As an important part of the Mechanical Engineering team here at LTTS, you will actively be providing critical value to our customers by helping to ensure adherence to strict schedules and FAA requirements to prepare a new flight application.

    This role will work with the LTTS team, as well as our major aerospace customer to: Lead a 20-month flight test program involving three missionized aircraft. The flight test program involves FAA certification elements, as well as verification of the mission capability to the customer’s requirements. The flight test director will lead the development of the testing programs and safety programs/reviews ahead of the testing program and will lead the execution of the program to the plan once the aircraft is ready for flight. Applicant must possess a strong background in aerospace flight testing. This role provides direct flight test oversight of aircraft performance, flight characteristics, flight controls including fly by wire, and reference system calibration. This individual will mentor and guide flight test engineers while they support test programs. This position requires daily direct contact with internal and external customers.

    This is a hybrid position, meaning this role will not require working out of the LTTS office in Windsor, CT but would report through it. Frequent travel to Oklahoma is a requirement.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    Develops and evaluates plans for projects and activities; assesses technical feasibility and soundness of proposed analysis, tests, or concepts being applied.

    Provides direct supervision of employees of similar expertise for a large project or a number of small projects.

    Responsible for establishing and executing objectives that support short and long-term Flight Test goals.

    Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods; represents the organization to resolve important issues and to plan and coordinate work.

    Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings concerning flight test projects.

    Acts as an advisor to subordinate leads or staff members.

    Actively participates in daily operations as required to meet schedules and resolve issues.

    May recommend modifications to operating policies.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong interpersonal skills and the ability to gain the cooperation of others.

    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Experience in leading teams, providing technical guidance as well as assisting with planning test campaigns

    Extensive Flight Test Experience

    Experience with schedules and resource allocation

    Must have broad knowledge of flight test data analysis methods and applications.

    Must have experience interacting directly with internal and external customers including the FAA.

    Experience deriving instrumentation requirements for on-aircraft flight testing

    Experience writing and reviewing flight test plans and reports

    Experience with data analysis

    Experience with 14 CFR Part 21, Part 25, or Part 33 regulations

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

    10 years Engineering experience.

    5 years specific technical discipline (Flight Test Director).

    Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 yrs with Masters, 4 yrs with PhD in fields applicable to this job.

    Physical Requirements:

    Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

    Reports To: Team Leader

    Travel Requirements: Up to 75% as needed (travel to Oklahoma based on project schedule)
