    Job Description:

    The Mechanical Engineer must be a highly motivated, hands-on, self-driven team player that has the ability to perform in a dynamic prototyping environment. The preferred candidate will be able to bring a fresh perspective to the design team and have a strong desire for innovation. The preferred candidate will be a Mechanical Engineer with broad technical knowledge base to support the development and design of all facets of the flight simulator platform. The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering. • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain electro-mechanical products, systems, and processes to support new and existing commercial and military aircraft flight simulator trainers.

    • Create new component parts, assemblies, and production drawings in 3D Solidworks CAD software

    • Alters and/or modify designs to meet specified functional and operational performance requirements

    • Review and evaluate existing mechanical design drawings and specifications

    • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of your designs to ensure that equipment and systems are installed and functioning according to specifications

    • Create and present design engineering data for internal and customer design reviews

    • Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application

    • Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects

    • Keep current on future technologies and products to determine where and how such products can be incorporated into designs

    Skills, Education & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering • Minimum 10 years of diverse mechanical design engineering experience required. • Experience working defense projects is preferred. • Must have expert level solidworks 3D CAD and 2D drawing experience. Must have used Solidworks regularly within the last year and must be proficient. • Must have extensive, diverse design experience with large assemblies, machine design, electro-mechanical mechanism design, electrical packaging design and be very proficient designing sheet metal, machined and weldment parts, assemblies and installations. • Must have experience with detailed mechanical mechanism design including specifying bearings, gears, pullies, press fits, tolerancing, motors, couplings, and fasteners • Design for Manufacturing best practices including material selection, production processes, quality control, material costs and techniques for maximizing the manufacture and distribution of goods. • High degree of mechanical aptitude with ability to understand complex machinery both from a theoretical and practical standpoint • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail • Exceptional written and verbal communication • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment • Ability to work on multiple projects at once • Able to quickly adapt to change • Finite element analysis experience preferred • Experience with flight simulator engineering preferred
