    About DC Scholars: 

    DC Scholars Public Charter School was founded in 2012 and opened with grades PS-3. Today, DC Scholars Public Charter School serves approximately 500 students in Preschool - 8th grade. We emphasize academic achievement and firmly believe that we must support students’ emotional, social, and physical growth to improve student learning. With a focus on these areas, we earned Tier 1 status in 2016 as outlined by the DC Public Charter School Board’s Performance Management Framework. Since 2012, DC Scholars PCS has cultivated a like-minded and collaborative team; staff is enthusiastic about constantly setting and reaching a high bar for students.

     

    The Position:

    The Operations Associate for DC Scholars Public Charter School (DCSPCS) is a key member of the school’s Operations Team. The Operations  Associate interfaces regularly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that our scholars are provided with high-quality systems and day-to-day support. The Operations Associate will report to the Associate Director of Operations. 

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    Office Management and Support

    • Provide top-notch customer service to all scholars, parents, and guests of DC Scholars as the primary point of contact at the main office (in person, on the phone, and electronically)
    • Sustain copier function, coordinating with appropriate tech support to ensure that machines are operational.
    • Manage and organize school supplies deliveries and organization.
    • Ensure the Staff Lounge and supplies maintained in the Lounge are organized.

    Event Planning

    • Manage logistics, planning, and communication for school-wide events including (but not limited to) new teacher orientation, August PD, and staff appreciation.
    • Coordinate with school leaders and manage logistics on class- and division-specific events, including field trips and promotion ceremonies.
    • Ensure there is a timely developed budget, procurement, staffing, communication and execution plan for all school events.

    Other Responsibilities

    • Support Leadership Team with planning for emergency drills and teacher development on emergency preparedness.
    • Maintain certification and stay up to date on training in order to administer medication appropriately if the nurse is out of the building.
    • Collaborate with DC Scholars team to support enrollment and attendance initiatives
    • The Office Associate for DC Scholars Public Charter School (DCSPCS) is a key member of the school’s Operations Team. The Office Associate interfaces regularly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that our scholars are provided with high-quality systems and day-to-day support.

     

    Background and Experience

    • At least three years of work experience in a similar, school-based role.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Exceptional communication skills and ability to quickly build rapport and foster positive relationships.
    • Must be highly collaborative, recognizing the role of teamwork in solving complex problems.
    • Strong desire to grow as a professional and as a person, facing the challenges that come with deep reflection and direct feedback.
    • Ability to relentlessly pursue goals and work through obstacles. A high degree of initiative in resolving problems and implementing solutions in a fast-paced environmen
