Systems and Virtualization Engineer
Location: Herndon, VA
Job Description
• Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of a virtualized, highly
available, hyper converged infrastructure.
• Design and build from scratch (must be able to design and build from scratch, not
from a cut-sheet or SOP, not just maintain a build):
o Multiple VMware clusters using the following technologies:
§ vCenter
§ ESXi
§ vMotion
§ vSAN
§ HA/DRS
o Active Directory (AD) domain to include:
§ Organizational unit (OU) structure
§ User/group configuration
§ Group policy object (GPO) solution
o Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) using VMware Horizon.
• Provide Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), and Security Impact Analysis (SIA) to
optimize experience with virtualization layer from Hypervisor through OS
deployment and configuration.
• Documentation:
o Create design documents and diagrams to support the system design.
o Document all build and configuration processes and develop automated
deployment solution using third party software tools and/or scripting.
o Document integration designs, strategies, tools, issues, resolutions, and
techniques
• Run systemwide security, compliance, and vulnerability scans and mitigate findings
as needed.
• Install and configure operating systems and application software.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise on virtualization, infrastructure, and
operating system technologies such as VMware (full suite of software solutions),
Cisco UCS and HyperFlex, Dell PowerEdge Servers, Windows Server and Desktop
operating systems, and storage solutions (SAN/vSAN).
• Communicate effectively with engineering team and IT Support staff.
• Mentor and train junior systems engineers, and continually improve personal
skillset.
Qualifications:
• BS in Computer Science/Information Systems (or related field) or commensurate
experience.
• Minimum DoD 8570 IAT Level II Compliant (Sec+ or equivalent cert)
• 8+ years' VMWare Virtualization experience designing and implementing complex
computer systems.
• Expert in VMWare HorizonView
• Expert in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Design and Build
• New build experience (must be able to build from scratch, as opposed to
'knowledge of' or 'maintaining')
• System design and optimization experience with the virtualization layer from
Hypervisor through OS deployment and configuration.
• Solid skills and experience in some (ideally all) of the following:
o Microsoft - Windows Server and Desktop, Active Directory, WSUS, CA
o VMware - ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, HorizonView
o Cisco - UCS, HyperFlex
o Dell – OpenManage, iDRAC
o Virtualization Platforms
o NESSUS
o DISA STIGs
o DNS
o DHCP
o SAN/vSAN Technologies
o SDN Technologies
o PKI
o SSP documentation and accreditation
o McAfee EPO
• Experience with DoD systems (Cyber/ISR Systems Preferred)

Salary: $140,000-$170,000
