    COMMERCIAL ANALYST

    Location: Oklahoma City, OK or Tulsa, OK

    Salary: $90k-$105k, plus solid bonus, benefits and retirement package.

    Job Summary:

    Our client, a global manufacturer and reseller of chemical products for the agricultural, mining, and industrial markets throughout the United States, is searching for a Commercial Analyst to work out of their Oklahoma City, OK headquarters.

    Purpose

    To assist with the collection and analysis of information required for product, financial, market and commercial decisions and strategy development, and provide support to the commercial and product management function.

    Responsibilities/Key Task

    Commercial and Financial Analysis:

    • Conduct appropriate analysis and evaluation of new opportunities and capital expenditure projects (qualitative justification, benefits quantification (revenue, cost savings etc), opportunity cost analysis, financial modelling (DCF) and sensitivity/scenario modelling) and develop and present the business case as required.
    • Provide timely, ad hoc business and financial analysis to support and optimize pricing decisions, sales opportunities, contract negotiations, product purchases and other initiatives.
    • Coordinate and provide analytical support to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, 3-year plans, cost management and strategy for the commercial business.
    • Assist in the preparation of business reports to support the commercial business.
    • Provide support where required on due diligence (commercial and market) and valuation activities.
    • Support the preparation of AFE’s for projects initiated or supported by the commercial business.

    Market Analysis:

    • Maintain product market demand and supply forecasts and plant capacity listings in the region.
    • Research and keep up to date with industry, market and pricing trends and conditions.
    • Maintain knowledge of activities of competitors and suppliers.
    • Develop competitor production and logistics cost models to support pricing decisions and sales strategy.
    • Develop import parity pricing models.
    • Monitor import and export statistics and identify key trends or activities that impact the business.
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of end user markets and their product requirements.
    • Assist in the identification and evaluation of new markets.
    • Provide timely, ad hoc market analysis for new product development initiatives.

    Product Management:

    • Maintain product allocation and product balance models.
    • Coordinate sales forecasting and product balance processes and provide support on product allocation decisions to maximize returns.
    • Maintain product profitability models.
    • Coordinate company Run Plan (sales and operating plan) process to ensure achievement of product allocation decisions and maximize production volumes and plant operating rates.
    • Identify and implement initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Run Plan process.

    Experience and skills

    • Bachelors (or higher) degree in Engineering, Science, Finance or a Business-related discipline.
    • 3-years’ experience (minimum) within consulting, investment banking or industrial business/chemical manufacturing industry, preferably in a modelling or analytical role.
    • Well-developed communication, interpersonal skills and relationship building skills.
    • Sound understanding of financial statements and financial evaluation/modelling principles.
    • Strong analytical and research skills.
    • Sound planning and project management skills.
    • Understanding of continuous improvement philosophy.
