It is now home to DEKA Research and Development, where we are taking same innovation and cutting-edge technology into the modern age.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineering Intern to work in a dynamic R&D environment this summer. The intern will have the opportunity to learn to document, maintain, review and test software for a medical device in a fast paced, team environment.  

DEKA offers Internships and Co-Ops for full time students* (must be at least 18 years of age).  Internships last a minimum of 10 weeks, 12 preferred. All summer internships must start no later than June 21, 2021.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• Develop and Test software used in medical devices and test fixtures
• Manage individual project priorities
• Participate in design, implementation, code review, testing, deployment, and documentation of software

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering program
• Experience with one compiled language such as Java, C#, or C++
• Experience with one scripting language such as Python, or JavaScript
• Must be a detail oriented individual
• Must be able to work in a group environment
• Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English

NICE TO HAVE:

• A public GitHub account with either personal or school project source code
• Demonstrable experience with frameworks or libraries of your choice
• Familiarity with SQL
• Familiarity with object-oriented programming
• Experience as a programmer or mentor for a FIRST team from either FTC or FRC

Please be aware that we try to make sure that our internship opportunities are well defined and will provide a unique experience.  We understand that most candidates would like to know if they have a placement as soon as possible, but at DEKA it takes more time than other companies.  We will try to let you know as soon as we can, but encourage you to pursue other opportunities as well.

*A full time student is defined as being enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester at an undergraduate program, or a minimum of 9 credits per semester for a graduate program.
