    As a Career Counselor at Detroit Training Center, you will play a crucial role in guiding and supporting individuals through our Drywall Program . This program is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue successful careers in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in workforce development and a passion for helping individuals achieve their career goals.

    _ Responsibilities:_

    • Career Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling to participants in the vocational programs, assessing their career goals and developing personalized plans for success.

    • Program Guidance: Assist participants in navigating their vocational program, ensuring they understand the curriculum, requirements, and expectations.

    • Job Placement Support: Collaborate with employers and industry partners to identify job opportunities for program graduates. Facilitate connections between participants and potential employers.

    • Resume Building and Interview Preparatio n: Conduct workshops and training sessions to help participants create effective resumes and prepare for job interviews.

    • Retention and Follow-Up: Monitor the progress of program participants, offering ongoing support and guidance to ensure successful program completion and career placement.

    • Data Management : Maintain accurate records of participant progress, outcomes, and employer partnerships. Generate reports as needed to track program success.

    _ Qualifications:_

    • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in workforce development or career counseling, with a focus on programs related to the construction industry.

    • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with participants, employers, and colleagues.

    • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

    • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team to achieve common goals.

    _ Education:_

    Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, but relevant experience will also be considered.
