    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Division of Student Success seeks an Asst. Dean for Student Advocacy and Support (ADAS) whose primary responsibility is to facilitate a culture of care for students through advocacy for their needs, supporting them in crisis, providing resources and education while encouraging personal growth and accountability. The Asst. Dean also facilitates judicial processes while collaborating with campus partners such as the Office of Residence Life on conduct issues that include the implementation of restorative justice practices. The ADAS will also review the student handbook and provide division wide assessment support. At the Division level the ADAS will also serve on the Student Success Leadership Team and assist with special projects. The ADAS will report directly to the VP for Student Success/Dean of Students.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    ●    A Master's degree is required, preferably in the areas of higher education administration, college student affairs, counseling or a related field; PhD/EdD is preferred.

    ●    Minimum of 7 years related experience in higher education.

    ●    Knowledge of higher education, college student development, and best practices in the area of assessment and student conduct.

    Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: 

    ●    Serves as student ombudsperson

    ●    Provide support to students in student crisis situations.

    ●    Serves as a member of the SGA Advising Team

    ●    Provide follow up support to faculty, staff, and student reporters involving students who display behavior that could be considered dangerous to self or others, as well as students in other non-life threatening crisis situations. 

    ●    Provide supervision for the staff of the Office of Advocacy, Support and Accountability

    ●    Represent the division and university by speaking at university wide events and serving on university-wide committees.

    ●    Ensure campuswide training for students, faculty and staff (Hazing, risk management, etc. )

    ●    Serve on the Student Success Leadership Team and participate in division level projects.

    ●    Provide guidance and support to students with concerns of food or housing insecurity.

    ●    Ensure the effective administration of the student conduct board through member recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and conducting hearings

    ●    Implement the Maxient software.

    ●    Coordinate the Behavioral Intervention Team

    ●    Conduct annual review and editing of student handbook; ensure digital access

    ●    Duties as assigned by the Vice President and Dean of Students
