    JOB DESCRIPTION

    DMS is seeking an ARMORER/ORDNANCE-BASED MAINTENANCE AND LOGISTICS SUPPORT TECHNICIAN II (OBMLS TECH II). The OBMLS Tech II will be supporting classroom and field laboratory instruction for U.S. Navy high-risk training evolutions at the Navy Center for Security Forces (CENSECFOR) Detachment in San Diego, CA. They perform training support duties associated with the delivery of weapons-based Anti-terrorism, Navy Security Force training to include:

    • Performing maintenance duties involving arms, ammunition, and explosives (AA&E) and related facilities and equipment
    • Performing logistics management duties related to small arms, ammunition, repair parts, tools, and ancillary equipment,
    • Performing transportation of AA&E to and from training locations.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • The OBMLS Tech II performs training support duties associated with the delivery of small arms and crew served weapons training to include:
      • Performance of enhanced organizational level maintenance on weapons and other training equipment,
      • Management of small arms, ammunition, repair parts, tools, and ancillary equipment,
      • Transportation of small arms and ammunition to and from training locations.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:

    • Knowledge of night vision, lasers, weapons, and weapon sight technologies, capabilities, and weaknesses.

    • Experience operating and maintaining various military small arms and weapons-based training adjuncts, including:

      • 500A1 12 Gauge Shotgun
      • M2A1 .50 Caliber Machine Gun
      • M2HB .50 Caliber Machine Gun
      • M4A1 5.56mm Carbine
      • M9 9mm Pistol
      • M18 9mm Pistol
      • M203 40mm Grenade Launcher
      • M240B 7.62mm Machine Gun
      • MK 19 MOD 3 40mm Machine Gun
      • MK 48 MOD 1 7.62mm Machine Gun
      • Weapon and VAS Accessories
      • Optic mounts
      • Gun mounts
      • Rail systems
    • Training Unique Equipment (TUE)

      • Mobile Weapons Firing Trailers (MWFT)
      • Modular Indoor Firing Ranges (MIFR)
      • Small Arms Weapons Simulators (SAWS)
      • Tactical Training Simulators (TTS)
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex malfunctions.

    • Skill in the use of hand tools, test equipment, and precision measuring equipment.

    • Ability to interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, and diagrams.

    • Basic knowledge of computer operations is required for inventory control and weapon maintenance record keeping.

    • Must be capable of providing on-the-job training within his/her area of expertise.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be a US Citizen.

    • Must have completed a U. S. military armorer's course, preferred are:

      • Navy CENSECFOR Enhanced Organizational Maintenance (EOM) Armorer Course
      • Navy Naval Special Warfare (NSW) EOM Armorer Course,
      • Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) EOM Course.
    • Must possess a minimum of three (3) years' experience with preventative/corrective small arms weapons maintenance and at least two (2) years' experience in an ammunition/weapons management environment.

    • Must obtain a suitable evaluation for mandatory medical, psychological, and drug screenings.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in the state of California.
    • Possess a familiarity with Firearms Training Systems (FATS) simulator.
