    Vantage Health positions community physicians to provide local, individualized, and compassionate care to patients at nine locations in New York City. With decades of combined experience in radiation oncology, surgery, urology and hematology, Vantage Health’s extensive team includes award-winning physicians who are widely respected as innovative leaders in their fields.

    The Director of Hematology and Medical Oncology will create and implement a strategic vision for patient-oriented cancer care services and ensure the delivery of evidence-based cancer care and cancer screening to the community. This physician leader will collaborate with the hospital's clinical and administrative leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care in a welcoming, patient-centric environment. The successful candidate will have leadership experience within a community cancer center and will possess a dynamic and collaborative leadership style, excellent organization and communication skills, programmatic development abilities, skills in process improvement and talent aligning stakeholders to a common vision and goal.

    Responsibilities:

    Improve the health of the people of Central and Eastern Brooklyn by providing high-quality, equitable, and accessible cancer care.

    Train the physicians of the future by providing educational opportunities for medical students, residents, and fellows.

    Create and execute the strategic vision for cancer care services for this region, including cancer screening, clinical, patient experience, and financial metrics.

    Create, lead, and direct a patient-centered, multidisciplinary clinical care program for cancer care services and clinical education.

    Expand the number of patients served by the medical center and the range of cancer care services.

    Advocate for and enable interdepartmental and interdisciplinary clinical services.

    Participate in the medical student, medicine residency and hematology-oncology fellowship teaching programs.

    Serve as a cancer care champion promoting and representing the program to physicians within and outside the medical center.

    Offer comprehensive care in diagnosing and treating patients with cancer and non-malignant blood disorders.

    Formulates diagnosis, directs or performs appropriate therapeutic treatment and counsels patient?

    Supervise clinical trials and patient-oriented research across the Cancer Center.

    Coordinate community outreach efforts and oncology network development.

    Supervise physicians and advanced practitioners in the Division of Hematology-Oncology, Fellowship Program Director and other health professionals employed by the core cancer care program

    Other duties as requested.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Medical Degree (MD) from an accredited program.

    Experience:

    Minimum five (5) years of leadership experience in a multidisciplinary cancer program in a teaching hospital.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Must have prior leadership or supervisory experience.

    Good interpersonal communication skills.

    Ability to coach and counsel employees in the performance of their assignments and ensure staff are informed of the policies and procedures for their assignments.

    Ability to fully utilize Vantage’s electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.

    Licenses/Certifications:

    MD License to practice medicine in New York State.

    Board Certification in medical oncology.

    Physical Requirements:

    Consistent with that necessary to work in a variety of patient care and office settings.

    Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.

    Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
