About the Role:

Canine Wellness Center in Closter, NJ is looking for a passionate and skilled Dog Trainer to join our growing team! If you love working with dogs and their owners to build lasting bonds and positive behaviors, this is the opportunity for you. Responsibilities:

Conduct individual and group dog training sessions using positive reinforcement techniques

Assess dog behavior and develop customized training plans for each client

Educate pet owners on training methods, commands, and behavioral best practices

Monitor and document dog progress and adjust training programs as needed

Address behavioral issues such as aggression, anxiety, leash reactivity, and obedience

Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming training environment

Build strong relationships with clients to encourage retention and referrals

Requirements:

Prior experience in dog training, animal behavior, or a related field

Knowledge of positive reinforcement and force-free training methods

Strong communication skills for effectively coaching pet owners

Certification from CCPDT, IAABC, or similar organization is a plus

Ability to handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments safely

Patient, calm, and compassionate demeanor with both animals and people

Reliable, punctual, and able to manage a flexible schedule including weekends
