We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Maintenance and Safety Assistant with robust experience in trucking, maintenance, and sales to join our team.

Job Description: As a Safety and Maintenance Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our fleet's operational standards to efficiently address safety and maintenance needs. This role demands a deep knowledge of the mechanical aspects of trucks and trailers, coupled with proven abilities in sales and customer service to manage internal stakeholders and external suppliers effectively. Regular after-hours duties are included to ensure 24/7 operational integrity.

Responsibilities:

Conduct detailed safety inspections and routine maintenance checks on all fleet vehicles.

Identify potential mechanical issues and coordinate with the mechanic team for necessary repairs.

Oversee and implement preventative maintenance programs.

Assist in developing and maintaining safety protocols and standards across the fleet.

Maintain comprehensive logbooks for each vehicle, documenting all inspections, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.

Provide emergency support and troubleshooting during after-hours shifts, one week per month.

Manage and order necessary maintenance supplies and parts, utilizing strong negotiation and sales skills.

Requirements:

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems in trucks and trailers, with practical skills in identifying and resolving issues.

Proven track record in the trucking industry and in roles requiring mechanical expertise.

Ability to work flexible hours, including mandatory after-hours shifts on a rotating basis.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Proactive approach to safety and maintenance with keen attention to detail.

Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable.

High school diploma required; further education or certifications in a relevant field is a plus.
