Job Title: DRC – Network Engineer – NE1 (Local Only / Onsite)

Job Description:

The State of Ohio is seeking an experienced Network Engineer (NE1) to support the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC). This is a local-only, 100% onsite position based in Franklin or Madison County, OH.

Interviews will be conducted onsite (location TBD after candidate screening).

The selected engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) solutions, ensuring high levels of security, availability, and performance across the network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and architecture of NGFW solutions aligned with business and security needs.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement firewall configurations.

Review and update firewall policies to mitigate emerging threats.

Design, configure, and maintain IPSEC VPN tunnels for secure remote and third-party connections.

Troubleshoot and resolve VPN connectivity and performance issues.

Implement Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) to enhance network segmentation.

Configure and manage Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) for efficient and scalable routing.

Work with IT and security teams to ensure seamless NGFW integration.

Requirements:

Candidates must have strong hands-on experience (10+ years preferred) in:

Implementing and deploying Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) solutions following industry best practices

Designing, configuring, and maintaining IPSEC VPN tunnels for secure communication

Troubleshooting and resolving VPN connectivity and performance issues

Implementing Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) for enhanced network segmentation

Configuring and managing Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) for scalable routing

Working with FTD Firewalls (e.g., ASA5525-x, Firepower 2130/3120/3110/1120 Threat Defense)

Managing ANS Cloud Firewalls

Cisco Meraki switches experience is highly desired
