Dreaming Out Loud is rebuilding urban, community-based food systems through social enterprise, helping to increase access to healthy food and improve community health, supporting entrepreneurs and cooperatives from low-income communities, and train at-risk adult residents for sustainable, family-supporting wages.
JOB SUMMARY
Dreaming Out Loud’s (DOL) work is organized around a portfolio of interconnected programs, initiatives, and social ventures. All employees contribute to DOL's Mission, Vision, and Values by connecting and synthesizing knowledge across teams. Education has become critical in DOL's mission to improve community health by sharing knowledge about health, nutrition, and food, as well as the land from which it is grown. Thus, the person in this role will be essential to shaping DOL's community education programs through design, execution, and management of the strategic, operational, and budgeting aspects.
The Program Manager (PM) will lead the administration, management and coordination of DOL’s programs including preparation and dissemination of regular program updates, developing reports and proposals, contracts management, budget and data monitoring, and evaluate program efficacy, impact, and sustainability. The PM works collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, and engages with external partners and stakeholders to manage DOL’s program areas. The PM will report to the Director of Programs (DOP) and oversee all aspects of programs from start-to-end, with the ability to effectively prioritize, manage, and implement programs and projects throughout the organization, ensuring day-to-day execution as well as long-term planning of program deliverables.
The candidate joining our team will meaningfully impact DOL’s evolution of building healthy, equitable food systems in the DC region. The PM’s responsibility will be to stay up-to-date on all organization-wide developments and priorities and ensure team members are on the same page. As the program lead, the PM will work with the DOP and other managers to develop effective ways to scale our impact at this critical time in our growth. Largely, the PM will have an impact and be visible in mission-critical programs. Based on program cycles and the organization's evolving needs, the PM may be assigned to either of DOL's initiatives as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management
Oversight and management of all aspects of DOL’s programs, including 70% of DREAM Program management and 30% oversight over DOL’s, technical assistance, and community-based program initiatives, and ensure they are in line with DOL’s mission, vision and goals
Participates in strategic and operational planning by recommending and advising on programmatic priorities and opportunities to achieve annual goals
Responsible for monitoring program compliance for all federal, and local government requirements related to DOL's program funding

Regularly document and monitor program progress and engage in ongoing communication with supervisor about successes and challenges to manage work plan activities
Develops and monitors budgets; ensures appropriate expenditure of budgeted items
Strives to maintain updated knowledge on all existing and emerging topics related to food equity and the relevant political landscape
Coordinates with finance to develop and ensure budgetary needs for DOL’s programs
Represents DOL’s programs at local, regional, and national events
Program Operations
Collaborates with appropriate executive leaders and managers to assess, manage, and monitor DOL’s program areas
Analyzes DOL’s operational budget goals and assesses strategy through regular SWOT analysis
Serves as a professional liaison and the primary contact for federal and local government partners, and other stakeholders
Attends required internal and stakeholder meetings to ensure program integration
Carries out special projects as needed
Team Management
Leads team(s) in effective annual goal-setting strategies in alignment with DOL’s organizational goals and industry recommendations
Participates in the hiring, interviewing, offboarding and training of staff and interns when appropriate
Supervise program staff and create and maintain a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
Mentors and develops staff using a supportive and collaborative approach consistently
Establishes and monitors staff performance, develops goals, assigns accountability, sets objectives, establishes priorities, and conducts annual performance appraisals
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of work experience and training in place of a degree will also be considered.
5+ years of professional program management experience, with program evaluation and experience collaborating with senior leaders.
2+ years of demonstrated experience in a management position and being an individual contributor.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, proficiency with Google Docs, and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Experience leading and executing community engagement initiatives.
Prior experience in a non profit organization preferred.
Project management or program management certification preferred (e.g. CAPM, PMP, PGMP etc.)
COMPENSATION
Annual salary range: $65,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, monthly cell phone and travel/commuting allowance.
WORK LOCATION
Work duties will be primarily performed at the Klein Center, 2121 1st Street, SW DC, 20024 and occasionally at WeWork, 80 M Street, SE DC, 20003. Prospective employees may be expected to travel and perform work duties at other locations or sites deemed reasonable by Dreaming Out Loud, Inc.
