  • Responsibilities

    The Institutional Research Analyst prepares and communicates accurate and timely responses to internal and external data requests using statistical software to formulate database queries, design and produce data tables/charts, presentations, dashboards and reports. The Analyst also assists in the generation of data analysis to support the academic and administrative functions of University departments (administrative and academic) and strategic initiatives. The Institutional Research Analyst will also assist in the administration of university-wide surveys as well as complete and submit mandated/compliance reports/surveys. The Analyst is expected to work in-person, on-campus.

    The Institutional Research Analyst reports directly to the Director of Institutional Research. 

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Identify and extract a variety of requested data; inspect, clean and code data in preparation for analysis and create project documentation;

    • Create, develop and maintain queries and databases related to mandated and/or compliance reports and/or surveys and/or cyclical data requests (example: University Fact Book, NCAA, US News); 

    • Respond to research/data questions as requested and describe findings;

    • Collect, assemble and merge data from multiple sources (including surveys) to perform statistical analysis using multiple analytic procedures; determine appropriate statistics for data types including frequencies, chi-square, correlation, multiple regression and others; and

    • Communicate with and present to appropriate University faculty/staff and other stakeholders analysis, compilation and interpretation of data

    Required Qualifications: 

    • A Master’s degree in a research related field. 

    • Minimum three to five years of professional experience in higher education, research, statistics or a related field is required.

    Desired Skills and Experiences:

    • Strong analytical skills and experience with one or more statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS)

    • Experience building queries and extracting data from relational databases (e.g., SQL)

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills

    • Excellent interpersonal skills

    • Experience presenting data and ideas to diverse audiences

    • Experience administering and/or coordinating survey activities

    • Ability to prioritize projects 

    • Be a self-starter
