    The TSD Engineer is the single point of contact for Recovery Service customers during the disaster recovery exercise cycle. The role is responsible to gather the technical specifications required by customers for testing and act as a liaison to recovery operations. The TSD Engineer will also interface directly with customers to provide support during test exercises and/or recoveries. This support position will be responsible for hardware setup and configuration, technical support and initial problem determination/resolution for all aspects of recovery testing.

     RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provided first-level technical support during recovery testing and/or in a disaster.
    • Effectively communicate with clients and responded to technical needs in person and via written communication. Assist clients with the use of equipment as necessary.
    • Perform asset tracking of 400 servers and peripherals on Intel Platform server farm.
    • Diagnose and corrected system hardware and software issues, as well as problems with infrastructure, systems, servers, peripheral hardware, operating systems, and layer 1 network problems.
    • Perform hardware upgrades and break-fix operations for server farm including memory and Firmware, patches, and peripherals.
    • Set VLANS on Cisco 6509 switches and performed troubleshooting on network connectivity issues during DR testing.
    • Assist with hardware installations and relocation, and with hardware troubleshooting and repairs; swap memory and/or I/O adapters on selected servers.
    • Configure and zone external storage on SAN Brocade switches.
    • Perform server firmware updates.
    • Install and configure ESX hosts.
    • Utilize Kickstart to install and configure Linux operating systems.
    • Participate in racking, stacking, and cabling operations as necessary.
    • Assist with developing DR policies and procedures; briefed management on findings that led to heightened security awareness and better service to customers.
    • Plan, schedule, coordinate, prep, and support large scale DR testing.
    • Utilize various backup solutions to execute restores of clients' environment.
    • Conduct pre-test conference calls for test set-up.
    • Manage simultaneous DR testing.
    • Provide support to customers who were DR testing for post restore blue screen issues and restoring to dissimilar hardware.

    OPERATING SYSTEM(S)/APPLICATION SOFTWARE SUPPORTED:

    • Call Pilot, Symposium, Voice over IP (VoIP)
    • TSM, Sysback, NetBackup

    SCHEDULE FLEXIBILITY:

    • Periodically flex schedule to provide off-hours and weekend test coverage or Testing Services support.

    TRAVEL:

    • Periodic travel required for test support and recovery to mobile test locations, as well as customer locations for technical meetings, sales support and/or “Procedure Development”.
    • On-call 24 X 7 X 365. Must be able to travel on short notice.
