Job Title: SLS Overnight Instructor (Awake Shift)

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

Schedule: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday Nights

Shift Time: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM

Location: Montrose, CA

Position Summary:

Vision Life is seeking a highly trained, observant, and dependable Overnight Instructor for an awake shift position supporting an adult with developmental disabilities who is Deaf and nonverbal. The individual communicates using home signs and requires frequent redirection and behavioral support throughout the night to ensure safety and well-being. This is a waking overnight shift. Staff must remain awake and alert the entire shift. Prior experience supporting individuals with behavioral challenges is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide constant awake supervision to ensure the individual remains safe overnight

Redirect the individual back to bed as needed in a calm, consistent, and supportive manner

Use or learn home signs/ASL to communicate with the individual effectively (training provided)

Monitor for behavioral triggers and respond according to support protocols

Assist with overnight hygiene or care needs if necessary

Maintain detailed nightly documentation and incident reporting

Create and maintain a calm, structured nighttime environment

Follow all behavioral, health, and safety protocols as outlined in the service plan

Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older

High school diploma or equivalent required

Must pass background check, TB test, and drug screening

Strong behavioral experience is required (Crisis prevention or behavior management experience strongly preferred)

Must know ASL or be willing and able to learn quickly

Ability to remain alert and engaged during full overnight shift

CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)

Professional, respectful, and dependable
