DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL Experienced Behavior Support – Full time second shift, M-F
Are you experienced in working with someone who has dementia, memory loss, confusion, or changes in behavior?
We are looking for a calm, patient, and experienced Direct Support Professional (DSP) who understands that dementia can affect how a person thinks, communicates, and responds to others.
This is a relationship-based position supporting an individual in their home and community. The right person will be able to recognize changes in mood or behavior, stay calm during difficult moments, and provide support without arguing or escalating the situation.
Shifts Available
Monday–Friday: 3 – 11 pm
What You Will Do
Provide companionship and a calm, supportive presence
Help with daily routines, home maintenance and fun activities
Support the individual during changes in mood, confusion, or behavior
Recognize triggers and early signs that the person may become upset or overwhelmed
Use patience, redirection, reassurance, and other positive approaches
Help prevent situations from becoming more difficult
Support personal care and daily living needs, as needed
Encourage and engage with safe activities, recreation, and community outings
Monitor safety and well-being throughout the shift
Communicate important changes or concerns to the team
Complete clear and accurate shift documentation
We Are Looking For Someone Who
Has experience working with people with dementia or dementia-related behaviors
Understands that behavior is often a form of communication
Can remain calm and patient when someone is confused, upset, repetitive, or resistant
Knows how to redirect rather than argue or confront
Is able to notice changes in behavior and respond early
Is dependable, attentive, and engaged during the entire shift
Has good communication skills and works well with a support team
Has reliable transportation
First Aid and CPR certification preferred
