    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Field Service Technician is responsible for the overall aftermarket service support provided to all DURAG Emissions and Combustion Products. The position is responsible for installing, servicing, commissioning, all preventive maintenance, emergency support, after-hours support, electrical & mechanical troubleshooting, hardware based automation support, as well as production support for new and existing emissions, combustion, DAHS, and traffic/tunnel equipment. This position also interfaces with individuals both inside and outside the organization offering technical expertise regarding DURAG GROUP products and services in various industries.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Support DURAG contract and non-contract customers with onsite preventative maintenance for DURAG GROUP equipment.

    2. Perform field service on all products, including analyzing and troubleshooting hardware/software issues, performing on-site modular/ component repairs, and preventative maintenance.

    3. Will work independently or lead a small team to install systems, which includes the verification of wiring connection and operation of products in accordance with customer's specifications.

    4. Complete all required documentation of the above services completed, in a timely manner and according to company policy.

    5. Provide detailed reports on the progress of the installation to management.

    6. Analyze and validate application from the field and provide feedback to sales and engineering.

    7. Provide technical support phone/email to customers internally and externally.

    8. Provide after hour support on all products on a weekly rotating schedule.

    9. Be capable of representing DURAG at the customer sites during any active service or commissioning project.

    10. Have a full understanding of all mechanical and electrical drawings that are typical to these types of equipment.

    11. Be responsible for maintaining and operating all company provided tools including vehicles, cell phones, laptop computers, safety equipment, company provided PPE and truck inventory required to complete the above tasks.

    12. Be responsible to complete and qualify for all company related Safety requirements for this position and following all company and customer required safety regulations while in company property or at any customer location.

    13. Be available and responsible for all on-call request for service support in your region.

    14. Travel up to 75% of the time.

    15. Have electrical skills equal to a journeyman level or a 2-year certificate for instrumentation engineering technology.

    16. General understanding of electronic communications protocols TCIP, Modbus, PROFIBUS, USB.

    17. Regular attendance and timeliness.

    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

    SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    Education:

    • Four-year degree in Instrumentation, Electronics Technology or related technical degree.

    Experience:

    • BSCE / BSEE / BSET preferred but not required; chemistry background helpful.
    • 3-year Technical experience (tech school experience accepted).
    • High school education with a 2-year instrumentation engineering trade school certificate, Journeyman electrical skills or at least three years on the job service experience
    • Field Service experience 3 through 5 years

    Safety Requirements:

    • Capable of dealing with issues and problems that often require thoughtful reasoning to best determine the approach to a solution of a given problem while working in the above described conditions. At times under the pressure of deadlines and high expectations of the end user. May be required to deal with unpleasant situations while maintaining awareness and understanding the feelings of others.

    Computer Skills:

    • Computer proficiency with Microsoft and Internet applications.
    • Capable of interpreting specialized documents and initiating effective communication to others. Capable of writing or modifying new or existing documents typically used in this position requiring the ability to expressing the terminology, phrases and plain language needed to effectively communicate.

    Administrative Skills:

    • Capable of working in both indoor and outdoor climates for all regions and in extreme cold and warm environments while equipped with company provided and required PPE. Capable of heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and working in constricted or awkward positions for periods of time. Able to climb ladders and stairs. Able of pulling, bending, stooping and standing.

    Communication Skills Reading and Writing:

    • Ability to complete computer functions such as word processing, spreadsheet functions and email applications. General understanding of computer networking applications and basic knowledge of PLC programming and hardware troubleshooting.

    Math Skills:

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.

    Other Requirements:

    • Legally permitted to work in the USA, Canada & Mexico.
    • Clean driving record required.

    Other Physical Requirements:

    • Computer monitor more than 4 hours a day
    • Frequent plane and/or car travel
    • Ability to climb, carry, and work in industrial environments & all weather conditions while installing and servicing DURAG equipment.
    • High school education with a 2-year instrumentation engineering trade school certificate, Journeyman electrical skills or at least three years on the job service experience.
