Nutrition Education Specialist

D'Youville invites innovative, creative and mission focused candidates to apply for a full-time position as a Nutrition Education Specialist. The selected registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) will provide Medical Nu­trition Therapy, individual and group nutrition counseling, and cooking demonstrations and classes in the new Health Professions Hub. The selected candidate will be responsible to provide nutrition services in primary care and rehabilitation and wellness, precept students in the Nutrition and Dietetics program, and coordinate additional health ser­vices as needed. The RDN will report to the Director of Nutrition Ser­vices at the Healthcare Hub.

The nutrition education specialist will be responsible to lead impactful, out­comes-based nutrition services. Primary job roles:

1.         Collaborates with healthcare team to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy.

2.         Plans and coordinates group and individual nutrition services.

3.         Provides cooking classes/demonstrations.

4.         Offers individual nutrition counseling sessions.

5.         Develops nutrition education materials and recipes for use with patient population.

6.         Precepts nutrition and dietetics students.

7.         Bills for services.

8.         Acts as a liaison for and partners with team members in the Hub and the Nutrition and Dietetics Department at D'Youville.

Required Qualifications:

1. Current Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

2. Certified Dietitian Nutritionist (CDN) in New York State.

3. Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or health related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) creden­tial.

2. Fluency in Spanish or an additional language and/or experience working with various cultural backgrounds.

3. Experience providing community group nutrition or individual nutrition services, conducting food demonstrations, billing for ser­vices, and/or managing food operations.

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 1-year experience required; 3 years' experience preferred.
