    Assistant Professor, Doctor of Chiropractic Program-Chiropractic and Biology

    SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

    The position of Assistant Professor in the Chiropractic program includes a combination of

    teaching, advising, student evaluation, service, and research. The ideal candidate will have a

    combination of education and experience necessary to teach graduate level chiropractic and

    biology courses. Sample topics in chiropractic include palpation, chiropractic technique, and

    evaluation and management of specific conditions. Sample topics in biology include musculoskeletal anatomy, histology, and pathology.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Faculty members are responsible for all scheduled classes. This includes, but is not limited to, planning, organizing, and informing students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales.

    • Engage in scholarly research and/or creative activity and serve on departmental and university committees and to provide service to the community and their discipline

    • Participate in student assessment in compliance with accreditation requirements and guidelines completed appropriately and according to the Chiropractic program assessment schedule

    • Participate collaboratively with other university constituents and stakeholders as appropriate

    • Support the university’s mission, vision, and values

    • Foster an environment of interprofessional collaboration within the Chiropractic program, School of Health Professions, and University

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Doctor of Chiropractic degree from a CCE accredited chiropractic college or earned academic doctorate in biology or a related field

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A combination of education and experience necessary to teach graduate level chiropractic and biology courses.

    • Three years active chiropractic practice experience preferred

    • Hold (or be eligible for) chiropractic licensure in the State of New York

    • Previous experience with teaching in higher education

    • Mental/Visual Demand and Physical Effort

    • For normal office environment must be able to lift 25 lbs. from floor level

    • Must be able to occasionally bend, twist, and stoop

    • Frequent typing on computer keyboard

    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and the dexterity to operate a computer and telephone

    • Capable of performing light to moderate lifting, pushing, or pulling of equipment
