    We are looking for an experienced HR generalist at our virtual immigration law firm, with excellent communication skills. Candidates must have experience in successfully building and implementing effective policies, systems, and procedures for people management aligned to New Jersey state and federal laws. Candidates need to have a record of building positive and engaged people cultures through deliberate strategies that recruit, develop, and retain stellar team members. Experience supervising and supporting remote team members is a must. This job is a part-time job for someone looking to supplement their income. It will be approx. 10-15 hours/week. Hours of operation will be on Easter Standard Time if there is a need to communicate with our team to enforce the developed strategy. During strategy development, freelancers may work in their own hours. We have a team of 10 virtual team members. Responsibilities: • Ensure compliance with labor regulations • Assist in development, auditing, and implementation of human resource policies; ensure the employee handbook is acknowledged by all employees as updated • Maintain secure employee files and records in compliance with federal and state requirements • Administer, evaluate, and review compensation and benefit plans • Assist in talent acquisition and recruitment processes • Conduct employee onboarding and help organize training development initiatives • Help develop and facilitate a quarterly performance management system built around KPIs • Guide leadership through employee performance interventions, from verbal warnings to termination, using progressive discipline when appropriate • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise • Promote proactive programs that create an efficient, healthy, and conflict-free workplace • Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly, applying new perks and benefits and organizing team building activities Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business management, HR management or related major 3-5 years of experience as an HR manager, upper-level HR generalist or in a senior position in HR management Possess an SHRM certification or certification from a similar institute Excellent leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills • Demonstrated record of success in a wide variety of HR roles suitable to build generalist capabilities; proven experience as an HR generalist is a plus (these will be discussed in the interview) • Understanding of human resource policies and procedures with a working knowledge of employment/labor laws and best practices; HR certifications through SHRM or HRCI are a plus Compensation: $20 - $30 hourly
