✅ Between 19.5 and 44 years old
✅ High school diploma or GED
✅ Safe driving record with valid driver’s license
✅ 45+ college credit hours (60 hours if under age 21) OR military exemption OR active TCOLE license
✅ No felony, family violence, or recent Class B convictions
✅ Must pass physical, psychological, and medical screenings

Education Pay: Up to $300/month for degrees or credit hours
Language Pay: $110–$150/month for second language proficiency
Overtime Pay + Comp Time: 1.5x regular pay for OT and court time
Defined Benefit Pension: Vesting after 5 years; retirement eligible at age 58 or 20 years of service

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be 19½ to 44 years of age (cannot be 45+ on civil service exam date)
Must have a minimum of 45 college credit hours with a 2.0 GPA or meet a qualifying exemption:
Military Exemption: 3+ years active duty with honorable/uncharacterized discharge
TCOLE Exemption: Possess an active TCOLE Peace Officer License
Must have safe driving habits and no recent serious violations
Vision: Correctable to 20/20
Must have normal hearing, pass DOT color vision testing
Must be of strong moral character
Must pass written exam, physical fitness test, psychological evaluation, and medical clearance
Disqualifying Factors (Not all-inclusive)
Felony or Class A convictions (civilian or military)
Class B convictions within the last 10 years
Family violence or indecent exposure-related offenses
DWI conviction within last 10 years
Dishonorable discharge from military
Unstable job history, including resignations in lieu of termination
Offensive or visible tattoos on face, neck, hands, or fingers
Drug use disqualifications evaluated case-by-case
