    POSITION TITLE: Front of House Associate DEPARTMENT: Marketing & Patron Experience REPORTS TO: Bailey Bryant, Event Manager DIRECT REPORTS: None TYPE: Part-Time COMPENSATION:  $15.25 per hour; scheduled hours per week vary based on availability and event schedules SCHEDULE: Tuesday – Sunday Evening Shifts 5:00pm-11:00pm Saturday and Sunday Day Shifts 11:00am-5:00pm LOCATION: On-Site in the Music Hall at Fair Park. No remote work anticipated. DESIRED START: 6/24/22

    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    This part-time position serves as the first point of contact for audiences in the front of the house for ticketed events in the Music Hall at Fair Park. These events include approximately 15 eight-performance weeks of Broadway programming plus concerts, comedy, dance, and dozens of other special events throughout the year.

    Under the direction, scheduling, and management oversight of the Event Manager, this role will be cross trained in health/safety procedures as well as customer service policies by the Event Manager. This primary goal of this role is to ensure all Music Hall visitors have a safe and positive experience in the Music Hall whether in the lobby or seated in the auditorium. This individual will monitor entrances to ensure only authorized individuals enter, direct authorized individuals to their seating or other appropriate location, and ensure that all Music Hall visitors observe the terms and conditions of entry while inside the historic civic building.

    THIS POSITION REQUIRES REGULAR ON-SITE WORK IN AND AROUND THE MUSIC HALL AT FAIR PARK BASED ON EVENT SCHEDULES. NO REMOTE WORK IS ANTICIPATED IN THIS ROLE. FAMILIARITY WITH FAIR PARK AND ITS SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS IS STRONGLY PREFERRED.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Greeting patrons in a friendly manner and offering assistance as needed
    • Scanning tickets and other access control duties
    • Guiding patrons to seats and exits safely
    • Maintaining order and adherence to safety rules
    • Distributing show programs and materials
    • Providing directions to private suites, restrooms, restaurant, and common areas (line management and directions)
    • Reminding patrons of security and house policies/procedures and contacting additional security or leadership personnel to enforce procedures when required
    • Enforcing auditorium/decorum rules and policies
    • Assisting guests with special needs including wheelchair or mobility assistance
    • Performing pre-show set-up and post-show closing duties
    • Escalating special requests or conflicts to Head Usher, House Manager or Event Manager if needed
    • Observing all workplace safety laws/guidelines and immediately notifying management of any safety concerns or injuries for patrons or employees alike

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Availability to work extended and night/weekend work hours
    • Hold a valid driver's license and have regular access to a motor vehicle or have other reliable means of transportation to and from the Music Hall
    • Operate and ascend/descend a ladder
    • Move and position items up to 50 pounds
    • Position oneself into and out of crawl spaces and confined areas
    • Traverse the Music Hall and surrounding Fair Park areas multiple times in one shift/day.
    • Stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods of time
    • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in scheduling and directed tasks
    • A professional and courteous manner and communication in dealing with internal and external customers
    • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
    • Familiarity with and consistent access to basic computer hardware and software including ability to use a laptop and smartphone/tablet, checking email/workplace messaging/scheduling software, etc.
    • Attending routine customer service and inclusivity training as assigned
    • Ability to attend a new hire training 6/24/22 from 6pm-9pm

    PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Fluency in Spanish and/or ASL
    • Usher/customer service experience
