Job Description:
Dance Teacher
The Dance Instructor is responsible for administering creative and fun ways to teach dance to children, while utilizing the Building Kidz dance curriculum. He or she works collaboratively with other members of the PA department to plan and develop one recital and one musical production a year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Must possess a strong knowledge for dance and a love for working with kids.
Teach dance to groups of children 0-12 years of age. Classes range from 20-30 minutes
Manage a classroom for young children
Curriculum development and lesson planning
Able to effectively collaborate with other performing arts staff to plan two imaginative show productions a year, including but not limited to music, dance, theater, set design, and costume design.
Flexibility, teamwork, and initiative required.
Ability to work well harmoniously in a multicultural team.
Ability to promote a feeling of security and trust in children by being warm, supportive, and comforting.
Attendance at regular staff meetings; ability to take and incorporate feedback.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Performing Arts Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong knowledge of a variety of dance forms, terminology, and practices i.e. ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap etc.
Minimum 2-3 year’s formal training in one or all of the following practices: music, dance, and theater.
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience preferred but not required.
Experience in developing and teaching music/theater numbers utilizing different types of instruments and techniques preferred.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma (or equivalent) or ECE credits
CPR/First Aid Certification
Level One AZ Fingerprint Card
TB test in the last 1 year
