    Chemical Operator

    Position Summary

    The Chemical Operator will participate in Danimer Catalytic's efforts to develop and manufacture chemicals and polymers using its novel and proprietary technology in a pilot plant setting. The successful individual will be responsible for installing, commissioning, operating, and maintaining various reaction and separation units to generate samples for internal testing or customer evaluation in support of project teams.

    Location: Rochester, NY

    Travel: <10%

    Key Activities

    · Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) after training to independently operate chemical process equipment.

    · Monitor material flow or instruments such as temperature or pressure gauges, indicators, or meters and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal processing conditions.

    · Conduct tests and periodic inspections of process equipment for malfunctions, hazards, and leaks.

    · Set up and operate automated control systems to regulate process equipment.

    · Record and maintain logs of instrument readings, test results, and production notes in computer database.

    · Use troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve process and equipment problems.

    · Perform basic repairs on process equipment and piping and keep maintenance records.

    · Collect, examine, and weigh product samples for analysis.

    Required Skills and Abilities

    • Experience troubleshooting and solving mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues.

    • At least two years working with hazardous materials and/or in a continuous operation environment.

    • Demonstrated experience following work procedures and complying with environmental, health, and safety standards.

    • Proficiency with computers; experience with Microsoft Office programs.

    • Detail-oriented, excellent recordkeeping and documentation skills.

    • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a collaborative team environment.

    • Flexibility to accommodate a variety of work schedules and work overtime as needed.

    • Open and timely communication with Operations Team Supervisor, colleagues, and other staff.

    • Fluency in English and authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

    Preferred Skills and Abilities

    • At least two years hands-on experience with process equipment such as chemical reactors, distillation columns, control valves, pumps, dryers, filters, and compressors.

    • At least two years hands-on experience with toxic, reactive, air-sensitive, and/or flammable chemicals.

    • Aptitude for and interest in learning details about chemical process and/or process equipment and applying it to successful operations of plant.

    Required Education and Experience

    · HS diploma required

    · Associates degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field preferred.AAP/EEO Statement
