Summary and Purpose
The CDP Research Technician I will analyze samples using a range of software, techniques and equipment to carry out analysis using established methods. Will use appropriate resources, investigate and interpret data. Adheres to all workplace safety laws, regulations, standards and practices and actively participates in a culture of safety within the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare process and finished product samples and conducts analysis using instrumental, wet chemistry procedures and record results using computerized data systems
Maintains on-going records of the results of testing procedures and inputs into database daily
Continually compares equipment readouts with samples of standards as required to ensure system accuracy
Documents and maintains results to support sample analysis and key accountability
Maintains samples of tested product to confirm test results
Assess and maintain adequate inventory of testing supplies and re-orders per procedure
Performs simple maintenance and calibration on all Danimer laboratory equipment
Able to troubleshoot Danimer laboratory equipment
Understands production processes required in the production of product makes recommendations to operators in order to achieve and maintain product quality
Performs daily process monitoring tests throughout the laboratory as assigned
Enter and report data using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Follows all applicable regulatory and safety guidelines as required
Follows all Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and housekeeping guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Experience- Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in a science related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using laboratory equipment (pH meter, balances and spectrophotometer) preferred
Previous manufacturing experience preferred
Lab documentation experience preferred
Microbiology lab experience preferred
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficient in using computers with Windows Operating System including Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Sufficient computer knowledge of laboratory instrument operation programs
Ability to work independently within a team structure
Stays current on all applicable SOP, safety, human resource, and annual laboratory quality related training
Handles chemicals according to the standard operating procedure outlined in the manufacturer’s chemical Safety Data Sheet
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills with internal and external customers
Understands the hazards in their work area and precautions to use. Informs supervisor immediately of any hazards, unsafe equipment or any unsafe acts
Able to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Maintains awareness and adheres to all GMP, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work is performed in a chemical and microbiology laboratory setting as well as the manufacturing setting. In the laboratory setting there will be handle non-pathogenic biological objects and chemical agents. Production floor setting will result in exposure to hot and cold temperatures, noise, fumes, limited dust, and oily coolants. Work is performed using office equipment with substantial time spent working on a computer
Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office and laboratory equipment
Requires walking, climbing stairs, bending and occasional lifting of material up to fifty (50) pounds
Position may require standing for long periods of time, periodically climbing a ladder, and work at heights
Performance of this position will require exposure to laboratory hazards which require the use of personal protective equipment

This is a full-time position. Must be able to work a flexible shift.
