    Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator

    Summary/Objective: The Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator under general direction of the Plant Manager while providing support to the leadership team, will be responsible for the hands-on execution of all environmental health and safety activities on-site. Ensures that work performed is accurate, timely, efficient and compliant with company policies, OSHA, cGMP regulations, FDA, state and federal regulations. Establishes site safety, environmental goals and maintain certifications. Collaborates effectively with departments and leadership to ensure goals are met.

    Intervene in the event of a safety protocol concern

    Aware of all life safety aspects of the facility such as first aid, automated external defibrillator, evacuation plans and all others.

    Communicate policies and standards while ensuring conformance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies and objectives.

    Ensure processes follow OSHA, EPA, FDA, GMP, state and federal regulations.

    Review appropriate government regulations, determine applicability to the site, updating site management on new or changed regulations in a timely manner.

    Makes recommendations to site management on compliance.

    Assess regulatory compliance and lead the regulatory audit program on-site.

    Update or write procedures in practical ways for various levels of the company.

    Perform on the job safety training for new hires and refresher courses.

    Support the site by conducting EHS Incident Investigation reports, identify root cause(s), and develop corrective and preventative actions.

    Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).

    Develops LOTO and confined space entry program.

    Implementation of setting and performing environmental standards.

    Coordinate data management requirements for environmental reporting (monthly, quarterly, annually).

    Develop compliance training and documentation for EHS required policies.

    Assist with environmental permitting and reporting.

    Develop waste management program and health & safety program, assist leadership with the Hazardous Waste program.

    Set up occupational health medical appointments for teammates and help maintain files.

    Supports and maintains PPE requirements within the facility.

    Ensures staff participates in monthly safety topics and training.

    Maintain 300, 300A, 301 logs.

    All other duties as assigned by Plant Manager.

    Supervisory Responsibility:

    This position has no supervisory responsibility.

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Must be able to work in a high demand non-climate control manufacturing setting and successfully wear all required PPE to function within the work environment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Must be willing to work days or nights including weekends, holidays and overtime as required. Must be willing to support 24/7 manufacturing facility, on-call as needed.

    Required Education and Experience:

    2+ years experience in Environmental, Health and Safety in a chemically strong industrial facility.

    BS Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field.

    Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, State and local laws and ordinance relating to environmental, health and safety.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    4-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and/or fermentation.
