    We are looking for an Assistant Editor to join Darkroom. The Assistant Editor will sit in our Post-Production department, managing all media, and assisting senior edit staff. We’re looking for a candidate experienced in data and post workflow within multiple post-production softwares - including but not limited to - FCPX, Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve. The candidate must be incredibly organized and be able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

    Assistant video editors help the primary editors on post-production projects. In this role, your job duties may include reviewing the raw footage, logging each shot into a database for easy access, compiling requested footage, preparing the editing equipment and software, and loading up the videos before editing begins. Assistant video editors are support positions that complete the preparation and administrative tasks necessary for editing, but they may occasionally edit some portions of select projects. Many assistant video editors aspire to become a primary editor, and use this position to gain experience in the field as well as network with other editors.

    Who You Are:

    • 3+ years relevant experience in a professional environment
    • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro + FCPX
    • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially Media Encoder, After Effects, Premiere and Photoshop)
    • Familiarity with broadcast finishing workflows (mix, color, VFX, conform, online)
    • Familiarity working in a networked server environment
    • Strong technical knowledge of codecs and transcoding practices
    • Strong time management skills and able to work in fast paced environment
    • Strong communication skills
    • Proficient with animation/ graphic design preferred

    What You'll Do:

    • Setting up projects for edit staff
    • Ingesting and logging footage
    • Working in tandem with edit staff to meet deadlines
    • Editing lower-level projects
    • Maintaining media storage (hard drives, servers, GDrive)
    • Mastering deliverables and archiving projects
    • Assisting senior staff with edit and administrative needs
    • Versioning various aspect ratios of completed edits
    • Maintaining all software and assets (Mac OSX, server operating system, frame.io, Vimeo, shared assets)
    • Coordinating and troubleshooting edit equipment
    • Reporting to the Post-Production Supervisor and Producers, the AE will upon request create high quality video edits that will span various media platforms
    • Performance creative editing (collaborating with performance marketing team in reviewing ad analytics/performance)
