    JOB SUMMARY

    The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for leading Darling Ingredients' Health & Safety Program for the respective operations they oversee. This role will be a coach and resource for local leadership and local EHS personnel focused on driving continuous safety improvement while assuring 100% operational compliance.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Plan, organize, schedule, and conduct inspections of facilities, work areas, and equipment at assigned operations.
    • Assess risk, determine scope, and recommend changes to improve implementation of Darling's safety program throughout the organization.
    • Monitor site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety rules and regulations.
    • Provide regional safety leadership and promote a positive safety culture in assigned safety region.
    • Participate in corporate level safety audits across assigned safety region, coordinate corrective actions with operation management, and provide notification to Safety Director of all deficiencies and corrective actions.
    • Lead safety investigations relevant to events occurring within assigned region. Ensure corrective actions are purposeful, complete, and implemented. Report all investigations and corrective actions to Safety Director.
    • Provide leadership during accident/near-miss investigations and case management within assigned region.
    • Coordinate, manage, & respond to all OSHA agency level audits & activity within assigned region. Confer with the Safety Director on all OSHA related contact.
    • Ensure timely notification for all serious events is made to Safety Director and company leadership.
    • Ensure safety compliance by rolling out and implementing corporate safety polices and standards to each location within assigned region.
    • Ensure safety training requirements are met by each location within assigned region.
    • Execute other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline, OR in lieu of degree, must have a minimum of 8 years' Occupational Health and Safety specific experience required in a manufacturing environment.
    • In addition, must have 5-10 years of experience in the safety field with an emphasis on OSHA regulation interpretation & application in a manufacturing environment.
    • Certified OSHA Outreach Trainer or the ability to obtain within one year.

    NOTE: This position requires that you live in (or in close proximity to) the region for which you are assigned.

    Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master's Degree in Occupational Safety or related field preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal skills; must work well in teams and be able to develop relationships with various levels of management.
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills to analyze safety and health data.
    • Demonstrated ability to use technology to improve the effectiveness of assignments, increase efficiencies, and quickly complete work objectives.
    • Proven ability to multi-task, complete projects on time and on budget and adjust to changing priorities.
    • Strong work ethic and high degree of initiative.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel
    • Occasionally lifts up to 50 lbs.
    • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Job functions will be carried out in an office and manufacturing environments.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    • Domestic travel, approximately 60-70%. This travel requirement will be adapted as necessary to meet state & federal guidelines related to COVID-19, until such time that restrictions are lifted.
