We are hiring Data Cable Technicians to join a well-established Company that's adding a new group based out of the Kansas City metro area. These traveling data cable technician roles involve installing structured cabling systems, running conduit, and upgrading network infrastructure at warehouses, industrial plants, and food production facilities throughout the Midwest. Projects range from 6 weeks to 12 months per site, with teams up to 6 technicians plus a working lead on location.

Key Responsibilities - Data Cable Technician
- Install, terminate, and test CAT6 structured cabling and fiber optic cable (multi-mode and single-mode) in industrial and heavy commercial environments
- Run and install conduit including 3/4-inch aluminum, Robroy PVC-coated, and stainless steel conduit in warehouses, cold storage, and plant facilities
- Upgrade and install network switches, wireless access points, internet connections, CCTV cameras, Fire Alarm Systems and access control systems at client sites
- Read and interpret blueprints, site maps, and project documentation to plan cable routes, MDF/IDF closet buildouts, and closeout packages
- Conduct cable testing and system verification to confirm all installations are operational and meet OSHA, local, and client safety requirements
Qualifications - Data Cable Technician
- 2+ years of experience as a Data Cable Technician or Structured Cabling Installer in industrial or heavy commercial settings
- Hands-on experience with CAT6 cabling installation, termination, and testing including knowledge of multiple termination types for multi-mode and single-mode fiber
- Current certification or demonstrated ability to safely operate boom lifts and scissor lifts at heights of 40 feet or more
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and no DUI/DWI within the past 3 years
- Must own basic telecommunication hand tools and personal protective equipment (PPE) and be proficient with smartphones and email for daily project reporting
Preferred Qualifications - Structured Cabling Installer
- BICSI Installer certification (INST1 or INST2) or Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
- Experience running conduit (EMT, rigid, stainless steel, and aluminum) in industrial environments
- Familiarity with NEC code requirements as they apply to low voltage installations
- Background installing CCTV, security systems, alarm systems, or access control hardware
- TIA/EIA standards knowledge and experience with cable closeout documentation
Physical Requirements - Data Cable Technician
- Lift and carry equipment, cable spools, and tools weighing 50 pounds or more regularly
- Work at heights of 40 feet or more using boom lifts, scissor lifts, and ladders
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in cramped spaces for extended periods during shifts
- Tolerate industrial work environments including cold storage warehouses, hot warehouses, and food production plants that may have strong odors
- Travel extensively across Midwest states (KS, MO, AR, OK, IA, OH, NE, MN, IN and surrounding areas) with typical schedules of Friday through Monday and midweek days off
