SUMMARY
The Data Engineer III supports customers in the design, build and operation of database infrastructure. This position solves complex problems and challenges to improve the reliability and performance of the database environment. Specifically, this position is responsible for daily maintenance, monitoring, performance analysis and tuning, troubleshooting, problem resolution and user assistance required to enhance the application database platforms.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
**** Must be able to pass a customer background check for access to facilities, equipment and property.
Knowledge of software programming, development, review, audit, testing, configuration management requirements and changes.
Ability to use a scripting language (such as Python) to automate database administration tasks.
Experience in Microsoft Azure cloud database technologies
Certification at the Information Assurance Technical (IAT) I level preferred. These include A+ CE, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, and SSCP.
Preference given to DoD or Federal Government industry experience.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Monitors and maintains database platforms. Investigates related problems, implements solutions, achieves efficiency gains, and automates repetitive tasks.
Defines and champions database best practices.
Performs and/or automates routine database maintenance operations and tasks. Improves and maintains the backup and recovery process.
Utilizes database performance / modeling expertise in support of design, infrastructure, query analysis, security and integrity issues.
Coordinates data integrity, and develops / maintains logical and physical data models. Organizes the integration of data and movement activities, and builds data migration strategies to improve operating efficiency.
Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to translate business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models. Converts business needs into logical, conceptual, and physical data models that may focus on things such as cleaning databases, restructuring and deleting old data, decreasing duplicate information within a computer system, and/or progressing the way in which data moves from one system to another.
Analyzes and develops strategies for improving database architectures.
Troubleshoots and resolves database issues. Helps to troubleshoot related issues across entire hardware, software, application and network environment.
Researches, implements and tests new database components.
Monitors database size and growth requirements. Projects and/or solves space allocation needs.
Provides database installation and configuration services.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Programming, or related field from an accredited educational institution and a minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Preference given to DoD or Federal Government industry experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The pay range for this role is 107K - 140K. This salary range is representative of the various ranges found within the professional sector across the United States, with the final offer amount dependent on location, skillset, and experience.
