CO-OP PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

Retail Business Services offers an IT Co-op Program focused in the Data, Web and Mobile teams and is targeted to current students and recent graduates. As part of this program, you’ll work collaboratively with the grocery brands Retail Business Services supports, including Food Lion, The GIANT Company, Giant Food, Hannaford and Stop & Shop, to develop IT solutions for the next generation of grocery retail. Participants can expect to leverage rapid application development, such as websites and apps, to create new offerings and ways of doing business while exploring emerging technologies new to the commercial space.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our new and growing Process Mining and Enterprise Observability team. In this role you will manage, optimize, oversee, and monitor data retrieval, manipulation, storage and distribution from a broad range of systems into our Celonis process mining platform. We are looking for an individual that has a strong understanding of data movement from various source systems, integration patterns and database technologies. You will implement data analytics and machine learning capabilities, specializing in extraction and transformation of relevant data from different sources with the goal of generating value by using analytical and data science skills to build data pipelines. You will also partner in creating an operational process dashboard that enables the business to dynamically respond to changing process data. 

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Work with partners across IT, business, vendors and external consultants to translate process mining targets and goals into technical and data requirements  

• Work with the business and process analysts to calculate key process KPIs 

• Identify all the relevant source system tables and fields that need to be brought into the business mining and business process modeling suite of tools 

• Build the data model and configure extracts, transforms, loads and validations for a broad range of source system data 

• Monitor and optimize the performance of all data queries to ensure ideal response times and minimal impact to source systems 

• Document all technical and data requirements and all extract, transform, load (ETL) work  

• Provide ongoing support for any data-related issues

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong experience with relational databases, data modeling, SQL and ETL processes 

• Experience integrating data via multiple integration technologies and building connectors between systems 

• Solid understanding of the data structures  

• Ability to work on data pipelines 

• Experience with at least one of: Java, Scala, and Python  

• Able to manage own work time, priorities and responsibilities 

• Fluent in English (in word and in writing)

PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WITH THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of Celonis software 

• Hands-on experience with business process modeling tools, certification preferred 

• Manipulating high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources to highlight patterns, anomalies, relationships, and trends 

• Knowledge of legacy mainframe and distributed systems (including Cobol, IMS, etc.) 

• Understanding of retail/grocery processes 

• Ability to tell stories with data, and deliver data-driven insights to a wide range of audiences 

• Exposure to Spark and Azure cloud technologies 

• Experience working on agile teams

EDUCATION:

• Must be enrolled in a BS/BA, MS, or PhD program or a recent graduate in related field
