Data Governance Analyst
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced team of Data Governance Analysts to support our client in the development and implementation of a robust enterprise data governance and data management program. This includes one (1) Senior Business Analyst/Governance Analyst and one (1) Journey Business Analyst/Governance Analyst, both full-time positions. The ideal candidates will bring a collaborative spirit, strong analytical skills, and a passion for data stewardship to help shape and execute client's data governance framework.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and maintain common data dictionaries and data inventory tools or methods that support data asset documentation for the client.
• Support the development and implementation of data or metadata standards and policies to ensure accurate metadata capture.
• Assist with data monitoring and provide guidance on streamlining data management practices.
• Provide thought leadership and participate in projects involving upstream or downstream data flows and processes.
• Support federal staff in building out a data governance program and serve as a key member of the data governance support office.
• Assist the client's Data Governance Steering Committee (DGSC) and contribute to its ongoing activities.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the client's Data Strategy.
• Support the client's Public Access Plan and related implementation activities.
• Collaborate with IT and program personnel to develop data quality standards.
• Create key performance indicators and report performance results to stakeholders.
• Ensure data integrity through controls, integrity checks, and gap analysis.
• Coordinate resolution of data integrity gaps with business owners and IT staff.
• Draft formal documentation such as meeting minutes and internal operating procedures.
• Contribute to and oversee the development of policies and documents related to data strategy, stewardship, governance, and maturity.
• Support communication and reporting activities including annual workplans, accomplishments, and website content.
• Identify and prioritize governance work tasks and propose new procedures as needed.
Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, and/or Library and Information Science
• Data Governance Knowledge: Understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK); Familiarity with data stewardship, data quality, metadata management, and data lineage
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in data tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation); SQL and data querying skills; Understanding of data modeling and database systems; Regulatory and Compliance Awareness
• Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA)
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to analyze data issues and propose governance solutions
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work with cross-functional teams (IT, legal, business units)
