    Job Description

    Longbridge Financial (LBF) is adding to our team a Contract Database Administrator. This Contract role will play an integral part of our existing team.

    We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Database Administrator (Contractor) to support the administration, monitoring, and optimization of our SQL Server and Azure-based database systems. This contractor will work closely with the Data Warehouse Architect / Manager to ensure availability, performance, and security of all data environments.

    Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases across on-prem and Azure environments.
    • Implement and manage Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instances, and SQL Server on virtual machines.
    • Perform regular database maintenance, backups, and restore operations.
    • Monitor performance and tune SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations.
    • Set up and manage high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions (e.g., Always On, failover groups).
    • Collaborate with data engineers and developers to support database design, deployment, and optimization.
    • Ensure database security and compliance with corporate and regulatory policies.
    • Automate routine database administration tasks using PowerShell or T-SQL scripts.
    • Support deployments and troubleshoot production issues in coordination with the DW team.
    • Document procedures, standards, and configuration changes for audit and team alignment.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
    • Strong expertise in SQL Server 2016 or later, including Enterprise Edition features.
    • Hands-on experience with Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instances, and database-as-a-service offerings.
    • Experience implementing and managing HA/DR solutions.
    • Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and database indexing.
    • Proficiency in database security principles and role-based access control.
    • Strong scripting skills using T-SQL and PowerShell.

    Preferred / Nice to Have:

    • Experience supporting data warehouse environments or large-scale ETL workloads.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric or Synapse Analytics.
    • Understanding of compliance frameworks like SOX or FFIEC.
    • Prior experience working as a contractor or consultant in financial services.
