Job Summary: The Database Administrator (New Work) focuses on the initial setup and migration of the new Recreational Boating Safety Database. This role ensures seamless data transition, system configuration, and functionality to support the Recreational Boat Testing and Compliance Program.
Responsibilities:
Execute data migration from the existing database (MS SQL Server) to the new database (MySQL), ensuring all fields, buttons, and components remain operational.
Configure the new database to support data entry, queries, and report generation, with searchability by elements like report number, case number, and MIC.
Integrate document storage for Product Assurance documents, including MIC applications, Defect Notification Reports, and exemption letters in PDF format.
Provide recommendations for optimizing the new database within 30 days of contract award.
Support the development of the final merged database, completed within 6 months of award.
Collaborate with the Database Administrator to ensure continuity of operations post-migration.
Adhere to data security protocols, preventing unauthorized disclosure of Sensitive but Unclassified information.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in database migration and configuration, with expertise in MS SQL Server and MySQL.
Proven track record in government database projects.
Strong analytical skills for identifying and resolving migration challenges.
Knowledge of federal data security and accessibility standards.
Work Schedule: Focused on initial deliverables, with flexibility for off-hours maintenance to avoid disrupting core business hours (0600-1700 ET).
