Job Description
Database Architect / Developer – Build a System from Scratch
Seeking a builder, not a maintainer. You'll own the database system from zero to launch.
About Us:
We are a growing organization that relies heavily on data to drive our operations. Many of our current systems are Excel-based, and we’re looking to evolve into a more structured and efficient environment. In addition to streamlining our data systems, we are seeking someone who can also handle general IT support for our office. This is a great opportunity for a proactive, tech-savvy professional who enjoys variety in their day-to-day work and wants to contribute meaningfully to a growing team.
Position Overview:
This is a dual-role position:
Architect & Database Development: Design, build and maintain a scalable database from our existing Excel files and implement easy-to-use tools for querying and reporting.
General IT Support : Provide ongoing technical support for hardware, software, and network issues in our office environment, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
You’ll play a key role in helping us become more organized, efficient, and digitally capable — both in terms of our data and our overall tech infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Database & Data Systems (approx. 70–80% of the role):
Analyze current Excel-based data workflows
Design and implement a relational database solution tailored to our needs
Create user-friendly interfaces for data input, search, and reporting
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and secure access
Support data migration and clean-up processes
General IT Support (approx. 20–30% of the role):
Serve as the go-to IT support for our office staff (remote or on-site)
Set up and maintain hardware (PCs, printers, routers, etc.)
Troubleshoot common software and connectivity issues
Manage user accounts, email, and device security
Coordinate with vendors or external IT providers as needed
Qualifications:
Experience with database development from scratch
Strong Excel skills and understanding of data structure
Proven ability to set up and manage basic IT systems
Solid troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking
Excellent communication and documentation habits
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Familiarity with scripting or automation (e.g., VBA, PowerShell, Python)
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Office 365, etc.)
Experience creating dashboards or basic reporting tools
What We Offer:
Long-term, stable employment with growth potential
Flexible hours with meaningful work
A collaborative, supportive team environment
Opportunity to shape and modernize our tech systems from the ground up
Salary:
Competitive salary based on experience.
