    The Akilah Foundation, a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is committed to expanding access to high-quality education worldwide by supporting innovative programs and learning environments. The Akilah Foundation supports Davis College | Akilah, the only college for women in Rwanda, and Davis College, a global co-ed network of universities. Davis College offers degrees to male and female students, with an ambitious vision for scale, while Davis College | Akilah serves as a unique environment for female students. 

    Davis College Hong Kong and Davis College Rwanda will open in 2020. By 2030, Davis will open 10 campuses in Africa and Asia and educate 1 million students. 

    The Davis academic pillars (21st-century skills, personalized learning, innovation, ethical leadership, and sustainability) will serve as its guiding light during this phase of rapid expansion. They define all of the institute's programs.     THE POSITION

    The Akilah Foundation seeks a creative and energetic intern with an interest in educational technology, training, and higher education. The Academic Technology intern will support the Davis College Global Academic Team assisting in supporting innovative technology initiatives at the organization. The position reports to the Director of Academic Technology and works on a wide range of tasks that include: training content development, data analysis, and educational technology-focused research. 

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Create technology training materials and knowledge base articles for a globally diverse faculty and student audience
    • Assist with the development of faculty training courses in Canvas LMS
    • Compile and organize resources to support the launch of the College's new online portal
    • Create and update help articles for the help desk knowledge base 
    • Support IT staff in providing solutions to academic technology issues
    • Assist with compiling analytics from Canvas, FreshDesk, and other online platforms
    • Identify funding and partnership opportunities to support innovative technology initiatives 
    • Research and synthesize information related to best practices and future trends in educational technology

     

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED

    Required Education & Experience: 

    • Current undergraduate in junior or senior year, current graduate students, or recent graduates
    • Experience using a Learning Management System required (Canvas preferred)
    • Familiarity with design tools such as Canva, and video screencasting/editing tools
    • Enthusiastic about new technologies and the ability to learn new technical skills quickly
    • Advanced proficiency using Google Drive tools and Excel
    • Skills and/or prior experience in education and training desired
