    JOB TITLE: Freelance Web Designer

    JOB ALIAS: Senior Digital Designer

     

    Davis Elen is looking for a seasoned Freelance Web Designer / Senior Digital Designer with a strong ability to design for the web. In this role you will be creating mobile and desktop layouts for a large, well-known retailers’s new business venture website. You’ll be a part of an internal digital team, building a design system, presenting work, and contributing to the overall rebranding effort.

    You’ll need excellent design skills as this project has a well-defined timeline. You’ll need to hit the ground running by contributing to the design of this new site for our client. Our ideal  Freelance Web Designer/ Senior Digital Designer candidate is:

     

    • AN ADVOCATE FOR EXPERIENCE AND VISUAL DESIGN: Designing for digital is a new way of thinking; We are expected to delve deep into user and market research to inform deliberate design decisions. You support this capability with an eye for color, typography, icons, use of space, and visual hierarchy.

    • PROFICIENT WITH TOOLS: The Team is primarily using Sketch / Invision, but the candidate will also need a strong understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite ( PS, AI, XD, ID, AE ). A command of UX principles is also required, as some wireframing may be involved. Motion, prototyping, interaction, and abilities in Figma are a plus.

    • A SOLID COMMUNICATOR: You understand the importance of being able to both brainstorm with the wider team as well as articulate your individual design decisions. You're all about efficiency and are able to work in a fast-paced environment and rely on strong communication skills to keep on task and flag project inconsistencies.

    • A PROBLEM-SOLVER: Your solutions take creative perspectives and new angles towards problems that guide the user every step of the way to solve real problems. You're able to step in and think through design flows, accounting for different states and system-wide implications.

    • ALL ABOUT STAYING CURRENT: You're constantly seeking ways to create useful, usable, and delightful new experiences as well as innovate our existing presence.

    • ALWAYS UP FOR A CHALLENGE: You don't blink when faced with a large or demanding task, you coordinate with your team and prepare to take it on with enthusiasm.

     

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

    • 6+ years experience creating digital assets with a portfolio showing layout for digital, branding and UX problem solving across a variety of projects

    • Experience with UX/UI, research, wireframes, mobile, branding application, marketing/social integration, product development and digital design

    • Enjoys collaborating with content strategists, developers, product managers and other designers

    • Strong collaborator who can thrive in a cross-functional team environment to present, iterate and deliver designs

    • Self-starter, self-motivated and able to manage time independently

    • Patient, understanding, ego-free and eager to give and receive constructive feedback

    • Strive to solve complex problems that extend outside of your immediate responsibilities.

    • Strategic critical thinker who has a high attention to detail and is focused on brand quality.

    • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
