    USA Sewing Specialist 

    Roles & Responsibilities

    HIGH IMPACT PURPOSE: 

    USA Sewing Specialists support and seek to elevate quality sewing of DfG Kits by serving as a sewing advisor and resource for Chapters and Teams within their country program. This position holds an essential role in directly helping Days for Girls achieve its mission to turn periods into pathways. 

    Remote

    Hours: 5-10 hours per week

    PRIMARY DUTIES:

    • Use strong sewing skills and knowledge as well as commitment to DfG quality standards to lovingly mentor and teach new Chapters and Teams (USA and International) to sew Gold Standard DfG Kits in person and via phone and zoom calls on a regular basis. 

    • Encourage, provide constructive feedback, and support Chapters and Teams in all matters relating to sewing DfG Kits. 

    • Review online submissions of DfG Kits/components, track progress via Trello, meet with Teams in Training over Zoom weekly and award Chapters and Teams Gold Certification. 

    • Sewing Specialists represent Days for Girls and so teach and follow DfG published instructions, Quality Gold Standards and Fabric Guidelines.

    • Willingness to use DfG core Values and follow Volunteer code of Conduct in all interactions with DfG volunteers.

    • We are stronger together! Gather feedback and ideas relating to DfG Patterns and Kits, and pass them along to the Pattern Specialist for review and collaboration if desired. 

    • As needed and if desired, work with Pattern Specialist committees to create patterns, edit patterns, or create sewing resources. 

    • Attend Global Sewing Specialist Zoom calls (2-4 times per year).

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

    • Experience following DfG component instructions

    • Experience with sewing all DfG components

    • Currently involved with volunteering at Days for Girls

    • Thoroughly familiar with the Quality Gold Standards and Fabric Guidelines

    • Detail-oriented and conscientious in carrying out responsibilities accurately to completion

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Love collaboration, as well as independence, and can work well with remote team members in different cultures.

    • Detail-oriented and conscientious in carrying out responsibilities accurately to completion.

    • Willing to learn and able to become comfortable using and supporting others to use email, google docs, google forms, google slides, Zoom, Trello and Calendly.
