    SUMMARY

    DeSales Media Group is constructing a brand new, state of the art media center in the heart of Brooklyn, New York!  We are hiring talented driven people to join our team.  Do you have what it takes to help us take Faith based Media to the next level? 

    We are looking for a Media Network Engineer to support and help manage the applications and network infrastructure for our new Media Production Center.

    DUTIES:

    Help drive the design of the new Media Center.

    Preventive and corrective system maintenance and application support on Production, News, Digital Media, Media Management and Master Control IT systems.

    Resolve issues through analysis and troubleshooting.  Assess technical operations issues and provide enhancements to existing systems and workflows. Analyze technical systems to identify potential issues and identify solutions.

    Manage application and infrastructure updates and improvements utilizing defined change management procedures.

    Develop standard operating procedures.

    Prepare and maintain system documentation and keep Operations personnel informed of changes to the production environment.

    Participate in developing priorities, resource requirements, project scope, and objectives.

    Fabricate, cable, install, and wire new systems, utilizing proper tools, labeling, and engineering documentation methods as directed by the Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering.

    Maintain a high level of technical expertise and business knowledge.

    Maintain, track, and report project status and metrics and service request disposition.

    SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

    REQUIRED:

    Engineering related Bachelors or Associates Degree or equivalent experience.

    3-5 years experience providing:

    • Media Desktop and Network support of: Production Control Room and Studio systems Newsroom systems Master Control room Acquisition and Distribution systems Editing Workstations Media Server systems Automation (Play to Air and Production) systems Content Creation systems Media Encoding and Streaming systems. 

    • A working knowledge of media LAN and WAN networking technologies, topographies, and troubleshooting techniques used in real-time media environments.

    • IPv4 Routing and Switching

    • Layer 2 and Layer 3 switch configurations

      • Firewall installation, configuration and maintenance (hardware and software)
    • Microsoft, Apple and Linux Operating Systems

    • In depth knowledge of Media Compression and Encoding processes and standards.

    • Ability to read and understand technical documentation including schematics, single-line functional drawings, block diagrams, system drawings, connector detail drawings, cable pull sheets, and wire lists.

    • Ability to terminate and test a range of cable/connector combinations including CAT 5, CAT6 and CAT6e.  Experience with structured cabling in a professional broadcast media environment.

    Must be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and a Team Player

    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong command of written and verbal English and a natural ability to liaise with all levels of the organization 

    Valid NYS driver's license, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and ability to climb ladders.

    Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends as required

    PREFERRED:

    Experience with Ross, Harmonic, Sony, and Evertz professional media and broadcast equipment.

    AutoCAD, Visio, MS-Project drawing and documentation skills preferred

    CCNA certified is a plus

    Production Workflow Engines and Orchestration

    DRM and Encryption

    Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)

    Knowledge of SMPTE Standards and Recommended Practices.

    Full cabling, wiring, equipment configuration, installation, system integration and Project Management experience helpful.
