OVERVIEW:
NET-TV in Brooklyn is looking for an experienced, dynamic, charismatic, and energetic, journalist to anchor its flagship news program, Currents News, in the number-one T.V. market. The ideal candidate is an already established news anchor or experienced reporter who is working in the secular news world and who wants to make the leap to an environment that reports on all the day's news (secular and religious) from the Catholic perspective. This is an opportunity to do traditional journalism… the kind that wins awards and makes a difference. The anchor will be a news junkie, always keeping up to date on current events, trends, and newsmakers. They will have a strong grasp on history, and the teachings of the Church. This candidate will be a natural interviewer and can ask follow-up questions on the fly. They will be a leader in the newsroom, contributing to the day-to-day editorial process led by the executive producer. They will write packages, prepare for in-studio interviews, update scripts so that they are in “their voice,” and work with the E.P. and line producer to record the newscast daily. The anchor represents the station publicly and will make appearances. In addition to anchoring the newscast, they will anchor breaking news and rolling coverage of papal trips. They will also record promos and work with the digital news department to implement our social media strategy.
