    POSITION: Line Producer- Currents News

    COMPANY: DeSales Media Group (News Group)

    OVERVIEW:

    Currents News is looking for an experienced, ambitious, and creative journalist who can jump into a fast-paced newsroom environment to line produce NET-TV's flagship news program, which covers secular and faith-based news for a Catholic audience in the New York market. If you are looking for a fantastic opportunity where you will be able to contribute your experience and grow into an executive producer role, this is it. The line producer works under the executive producer to create and execute a compelling newscast. You will play a critical role in the day-to-day production of the newscast. You must work closely with reporters, production staff, assignment editors and other platform managers.  You will pitch stories, write scripts, and edit video. You will supervise and monitor the recording of the newscast in the control room and booth live coverage of breaking news events. This is not an entry level position.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Stack the rundown with clear and accurate information, and update throughout the day
    • Write vos, anchor leads, teases and topical promos
    • Attend editorial meetings and pitch stories
    • Approve writer's scripts and video
    • Edit video for vos, vo/sots, and guest interview segments
    • Train under the EP to fill their role when they take time off.
    • Work closely with the assignment desk editor to communicate story and information needs
    • Train newly hired writers and associate producers
    • Booth the program in the control room, keep program to time, communicate clearly with crew and anchor during the newscast

    BACKGROUND, SKILLS, REQUIREMENTS:

    • Degree in journalism, broadcast news, or equivalent
    • 1-2 years of experience in a newsroom as a line producer or associate producer with line producing experience
    • Exceptional news judgment and ability to visually tell stories
    • Ability to edit on Adobe Premiere or equivalent
    • Excellent broadcast writing, communication, and organizational skills
    • Ability to learn quickly and work independently
    • Experience working on digital platforms with ability share content on social media
    • Strong and proven ability to multitask and to work under deadlines
    • Willing to work outside of your shift schedule to accommodate breaking news
    • Basic knowledge of Catholic Church, teachings, and traditions is a plus
