  • Responsibilities

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Delivery Driver will work closely with the clinic/pharmacy to ensure the timely delivery of medication and other supplies to participants’ residence. The Delivery Driver works as part of the transportation team in providing delivery and pick up services to our participants. The Delivery Driver will perform manual lifting and driving work. Runner reports to the Transportation supervisor.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Deliver meals, diapers, supplements, medications, equipment, etc. to the participant’s home and/or other centers as required.
    2. Driver will read out the name of the participant and the address or center of attendance to the person receiving the medication(s) to confirm that the delivery is correct.
    3. Counts and writes down into a log sheet what was delivered and the amount of boxes that were delivered or picked up.
    4. Conducts daily inspections to ensure assigned vehicle is safe to operate.
    5. Carry and maintain assigned cellular phone ON at all times during working hours or as required. Cellular phone will not be used while driving. All calls must be answered as promptly as possible without compromising safety.
    6. Must work outside normal working hours in case of a medical emergency and/or late scheduled appointments.
    7. Must provide on-call coverage after hours, on weekends and holidays as assigned.
    8. Communicate with supervisor and/or IDT regarding any issues encountered during deliveries.
    9. Attend mandatory departmental and organizational meeting or in-service trainings.
    10. Comply with procedures related to inability to delivery medications, meals, diapers, supplements, equipment, etc. when participant or family is not home.
    11. Assist with participant transportation for center routes and appointments.
    12. Other duties or tasks as assigned by supervisor, as needed.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    1. GED or high school diploma preferred.
    2. Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age with five years experience of continuous driving experience.
    3. Must have a VALID Texas driver’s license (Class C)
    4. Bilingual capability is required (English/Spanish).
    5. Knowledge of basic computer skills.
    6. Minimum one year experience working with the frail elderly preferred.
    7. Must have a current CPR card.
    8. Driving record must NOT have any serious violations including: a. More than two incidents of moving violations or vehicle accidents within one year b. Incident of a suspended or revoked driver’s license within the current year c. More than two incidents of “failure to appear” in court within one year d. More than two incidents of “no liability insurance” within one year e. No traffic incidents involving driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. f. More than one (1) at fault accident in the last three (3) years. g. Using false or fictitious registration, plates or drivers license. h. Leaving the scene of an accident. i. Murder or assault with a motor vehicle. j. Theft of a motor vehicle or related incidents. k. Reckless driving resulting in bodily injury or death (none in the past five (5) years. l. Negligent homicide.
    9. Demonstrate good physical health and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. safely.
    10. Mature individual with interest and appreciation of the elderly.
    11. Ability to accept supervision and have problem solving skills.
    12. The skill to work collectively and communicate effectively with staff, participants, and family members.
  • Qualifications

    Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

    • Associates Degree in Business or Accounting
    • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook and Word
    • Highly organized and detail oriented
    • Strong problem- solving skills, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
    • Knowledge of Sage/MAS Accounting or similar software is a plus
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently or with a team in a fast-paced environment
