Job Description

Dean & Company Strategy Consultants, a strategy consulting firm located in McLean, VA with affiliates in the energy trading (DC Energy Management) and investment industries (DC Investments Management), seeks a Junior Staff Accountant to join its team.  The position will perform accounting functions as part of a unified team supporting all businesses.

The Junior Staff Accountant is responsible for managing the accounts payable, expense reimbursement processes, performing certain monthly closing duties, in addition to other related tasks.  The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to work independently, and have strong attention to detail.  She/he should be flexible and comfortable working in a mid-sized company environment.  This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Input invoices in the accounts payable system
• Prepare biweekly ACH runs
• Manage inquiries related to invoices, vendors, and payments
• Process expense reimbursements
• Prepare account reconciliations
• Prepare certain monthly closing journal entries
• Prepare reports, schedules and analyses
• Prepare schedules for the annual external audit
• Other duties as required

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles
• Demonstrates strong understanding of MS Excel
• Strong problem-solving skills
• High degree of ethics
• Hard working with intellectual curiosity and the desire/ability to learn rapidly
• Well organized and detail oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
