    Salary : $57,500 - $75,000

    Carmen Schools currently operates five campuses, each one is as an independent charter school authorized by Milwaukee Public Schools or UW-Milwaukee:

    • Carmen High School of Science and Technology, South
    • Carmen Middle/High School of Science and Technology, Northwest
    • Carmen High School of Science and Technology, Southeast
    • Carmen Middle School of Science and Technology, South
    • Stellar Elementary currently offering K4-5th grade

    POSITION SUMMARY


    Accountable to the Principal, the Dean of Curriculum & Instruction - Academic Operations ensures the execution of instructional operations that help to promote student achievement and a college preparatory environment and ensures that Carmen Schools of Science and Technology's mission, vision, and core values are upheld. The Dean of Curriculum & Instruction - Academic Operations is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving operational systems and processes related to teacher coverage, test administration, course scheduling, and student credits.

    QUALIFICATIONS


    • 1. Bachelor's Degree in education or related field **_preferred_**
      
      1. Strong organizational skills, especially with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and, Forms
      2. Preferred experience with PowerSchool and SchoolRunner
      3. Passion for high-quality education and student achievement
      4. Ability to lead and function in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment with a mature approach to challenges.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


    Managing Teacher/Class Coverage

    1. Learn, implement, and improve systems to organize the coverage of classes daily. Communicate with all stakeholders in a timely, professional, and effective manner. Ensure class coverage operations are followed and communicated i.e., student rosters for attendance, computer sub, bell schedule, and basic expectations for a teacher
    2. Ensure Sub Plans are in order and all teachers have submitted them
    3. Reaches out to, schedules, and confirms substitutes for teacher coverage daily (internal and external subs)
    4. Use Bamboo HR to monitor and track teacher days off and ensure adequate coverage is planned in advance. Track staff attendance and usage of vacation, sick, and personal time for all school-based staff.
    5. Monitor internal subbing for accuracy (hours, classes subbed, etc)

    Coordinating State Testing and Interim Assessments

    1. Act as the point of contact for the school for any communication regarding Carmen-specific and state testing (i.e. ACCESS, Forward, AP, ACT, Pre-ACT, and other testing as required)
    2. Plan the execution of all grade level testing (including makeup testing) ,ensuring compliance with testing requirements (including coordination with the Director of IT for any online testing)
    3. Document and communicate testing plans to all stakeholders (e.g., school leaders, proctors, etc.)
    4. Meet all testing deadlines (including makeup testing)
    5. Collaborate with the Director of Student Services to ensure all accommodations and modifications are implemented
    6. Collaborate with the Director of Data and Assessment to ensure rosters are complete and accurate
    7. Ensure all necessary materials are ordered and received in a timely manner, and that all staff and students have access to necessary technology and portals to take/ administer the assessments.
    8. Collaboration with the Director of Teaching and Learning for all interim assessments.

    Master Scheduling and Student Course Scheduling

    1. Create and manage systems to schedule student courses according to student needs, graduation requirements, and course availability.
    2. Proactive scheduling mid-semester to ensure students take the necessary courses required for graduation.
    3. In collaboration with the Principal and School Leadership team, adjusting master scheduling based on enrollment, staffing, and programming.
    4. Create and manage systems of reporting for students who are not on track for graduation/ not meeting credit attainment expectations and communicate to SLs and the Director of Student Services
    5. In collaboration with the Success Program Manager and SLs, develop a schedule for credit recovery and summer school
    6. Coordinate with School Leaders to build a master schedule
    7. Facilitate schedule requests, adjustments and changes of student schedules
    8. Ensure timely and accurate management of transfer credits and graduation requirement tracking.

    Student Success Coordination

    1. Collaborate with advisors with regards to AP and on track to graduation
    2. Track students off-track for graduation and communicate intervention plans.
    3. Collaborate with the success team to determine recovery placement and summer school placement.
    4. Collaborate with College & Career, Student Services, and Teaching & Learning teams to support student achievement.

    Perform other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned

    1. Play an active role in all school-wide systems with designated posts
    2. Help with other operational tasks as assigned
    3. Manage textbook and instructional material distribution.
    4. Demand high expectations for all students , and communicate with all stakeholders accordingly

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The Dean of Curriculum & Instruction - Academic Operations will work predominantly Monday – Friday in a High school environment. There will be times the Instructional Operations Coordinator will need to be available outside school hours to coordinate classroom vacancies.
